Searching DocEx

I have searched but cannot find what I want to request

Have you checked you search terms carefully?

Are there any typing or spelling mistakes?

Have you selected the right database or catalogue search option?

When searching within DocEx there is a choice of databases and catalogues to search:

What do you want to do? What to choose
To place an off-campus request 'USQ Library Catalogue' option
To place an interlibrary loan request 'InterLibrary Loan Catalogue' option
To search some selected databases Choose the appropriate Faculty group

Have all the results displayed?

Or do you need to click on Get more results towards the top of your search results screen for more of the results to display?

Are there too many results to look through?

Can you find a way to reduce the number of hits? Are you using quotation marks to do a phrase or title search eg. "Accounting principles". Does using the Advanced search help to refine your search?

Does USQ Library actually hold the item?

To check, try searching the USQ Library catalogue directly (rather than via DocEx). If you locate it, note the ISBN or ISSN number and try doing an Advanced search on that within DocEx.

Prefer not to search?

To skip the searching step, go to DocEx and click on 'Create a request' in the left hand frame. A blank form displays. Select book or journal and fill in the details of the item you are chasing. We will then check at this end to see if we can supply the item you want.
