About EndNoteWhat is EndNote?EndNote is a researcher's dream come true! EndNote is software which allows you to create a database of references (journals, books, reports etc.) which you have selected in online searches or typed in manually. EndNote allows you to format references using over 200 referencing styles. Using this database of references (your EndNote Library) you can create in-text citations and bibliographies automatically in your word processor in whatever referencing style you choose. You can import records from an online database and the internet, or connect to a library catalogue directly through EndNote and import records from it. The University of Southern Queensland has a site licence to provide EndNote (Windows and Macintosh versions) to staff and postgraduate students at the Toowoomba, Springfield and Fraser Coast Campuses.
What Version Should I Use?The Library will be teaching EndNote Version X1 and supporting Versions 7 - 9. EndNote X1 is compatible with EndNote 8 and 9 and X, but it is not compatible with EndNote 7 and earlier versions. If you are working collaboratively you must ensure that all machines are running the same version of EndNote. For an extensive description of the features of EndNote X1 see the University of Queensland's EndNote Site EndNote X1 is compatible with Word 2007 and Windows Vista. It is also compatible with Mac OS X. There are incompatabilities with EndNote 9 and minor incompatibilities with EndNote X with Word 2007 and Windows Vista. See the EndNote page http://www.endnote.com/envista.asp for details. The latest Microsoft Service Update should be installed on your computer.
