Interlibrary Loan Services

The Library offers a service to obtain material not held in the USQ Library collection. This service is primarily aimed at academic staff and postgraduate researchers to support their teaching and research needs. The USQ Library also provides material to other libraries as part of this service.

Placing a request

Please note you are only charged or the quota debited if we are successful in obtaining the item. Some interlibrary loans are more expensive to obtain such as theses, overseas loans, and items required urgently. You will be contacted by the Library's Interlibrary Loans staff before an order is placed

Borrowing from other libraries in person

Most libraries around Australia will allow staff and students from other institutions to use the print collection within their library for no charge. This is a possible alternative to interlibrary loans and is useful if you need to photocopy journal articles or a chapter from a book.

USQ staff and students can borrow from any university library in Australia in accordance with the national reciprocal borrowing agreement.

Information for other libraries

USQ Library supplies material to other libraries:

  • Standard Australian Interlibrary Resource Sharing Code charges for interlibrary loans are followed. We are a payment member of LADD. For other requests, an invoice will be generated. We do not accept voucher payment.

  • A Document Supply service is provided to overseas libraries. An invoice will be generated or we accept payment via IFLA voucher. Price will vary depending upon the service required.

  • USQ theses are not available for loan but a print copy will be provided at the recommended rate within Australia of A$71.50 (for a standard thesis). Slightly higher charges apply for theses over 400 pages long.

For further details of the University of Southern Queensland Library's Lending and Document Supply service see our entry under the Interlibrary Resource Sharing web pages (our NUC symbol is QUSQ).
