Management of course readings and texts (online and print)
Course readings and high demand course material can be made available to students either online via USQStudyDesk using the Digitial Resource Collection or in the Library's Course Readings Collection.
Digital Resource Collection (DiReCt) (for online material)
DiReCt is a course readings management system which provides online access to all readings associated with a course. It is a system which manages online access, security, storage and copyright of course readings and resources.
What materials can be accessed via DiReCt?
All readings within course packs (including print, CD and online courses) are included in DiReCt. Additional resources can be requested by lecturers. These include:

digitised copies of readings and images

readings hosted on external websites

Library online journals and eBooks
-
multimedia material

Course Readings Collection (for print material)
The Course Readings Collection is a special collection of high demand material such as textbooks and recommended readings. Material within the collection is placed on short term loan for the duration of the semester to support current courses.
This material includes:

Textbooks - one copy of all textbooks for each course is automatically placed in this collection each semester.

Recommended readings - for courses with an internal offering (as per the course specifications) depending on prior usage and demand (otherwise they are placed in the Library's Main Collection on 7-day loan).

High use items - Library staff will place other items in the collection through out the semester as they notice demand increasing.

Items requested by academic staff - this can include their own or Library owned material.
To ensure the Library has copies of recommended readings and can place high demand material in the Course Readings collection for students please contact us if you:

recommend texts to your students or handing out additional readings not listed in the course specifications

teach courses with large enrolments submit assignment topics to the Library at the beginning of each semester
How to submit items to the Course Readings Collection?
For Library owned items email the Library with the following information:
- call number, title, author and edition
- course number and title
- required loan period (3 hours or 1 day).
For non Library owned items (such as Study Guides) deliver these resources to the Library Loans desk at your campus.
