Multimedia Services
LRDS provides support to faculty staff for the development of learning resources for on-campus and off-campus students. There is no direct cost from LRDS to faculties for preparation of course packages.
Multimedia is the section of LRDS that deals with interactive media projects, dynamic educational tools, online media activity and custom-built projects.
What is multimedia?
Multimedia is user-controlled information presented in multiple media forms - text, images, audio, video and animation, combined and formatted for screen-based access. 'Interactivity' refers to the level of user control; the user can take their own path through information or self-managed learning.
Multimedia is often incorporated into web sites or Resource DVD/CD's.
Interactive Multimedia Developers prepare interactive learning materials and educational tools and research the development of screen based educational media for incorporation into learning packages.
Areas of Activity
The overall functions of Multimedia are broken up into two main areas of activity which operate concurrently.

Processes
Multimedia provides a QA system of procedures and approvals ensuring a smooth workflow.
All requests for course material work should be made through your LRDO. Requests for any multimedia project work should be made through the Manager, Creative Media Services using the Multimedia work request form (DOC 105KB). As the number of requests often exceeds the available resources, all requests need to be fully scoped and prioritised.
The following processes form the basis of the QA approach:
- definition of project
- completion of Work request form
- approval of project
- allocation of developer.
