Replication Services

Replication Services is located in Y208, DeC Building, USQ Toowoomba Campus, and provides services and facilities for the copying of audio, video and digital media. Our services are available to the University community as well as external clients.

Copy Formats


Off-air television recording racks

Video

from:	Betacam SP	to:	VHS
	VHS, SVHS and VHS-C		DVD
	Mini DV, DV-CAM		Digital file (e.g. QuickTime, .wmv)

Video Standards Conversion

Convert to and from:

PAL	(eg. Australia, United Kingdom, Hong Kong)
NTSC	(eg. United States, Canada, Japan)
SECAM	(eg. France, Hungary)
MESECAM	(eg. Greece, Saudi Arabia)

Digital Media

Multiple copying directly from CD or DVD master. We also print B&W or colour labels onto printable media stock. We can supply a range of protective slips and cases.

Copyright Approval

All copying carried out by Replication Services is subject to the laws of copyright.

If you do not own copyright, you may be able to obtain approval for copying - or purchase copyright outright - by contacting the current copyright owner/s. Media Services staff will need to see this approval in writing (and keep a copy of approval on file), before copying commences. Copyright information can usually be found on covers, labels or at the end of recordings.

Please note that simply purchasing a piece of recorded media (such as an educational video) does not mean that you have purchased the right to make any copies of this piece.

Please note that no copying of any media will be carried out by Replication Services without proven copyright approval. To avoid disappointment, please obtain written approval before approaching Media Services.

Off-Air Recordings

Under arrangements with Screenrights Australia, USQ staff are able to record radio and television broadcasts from within Australia (Part VA of The Copyright Act) to support the teaching programs of USQ. If you would like a program recorded on your behalf, contact Media Services staff to complete the necessary paperwork and book your off-air recording.

Please note - We do not record programs unless they are specifically requested. We require a minimum of 24 hours notice for the recording of programs otherwise you requests may not be processed.

We can supply your selected program as either DVD video or specified data file for inclusion on your USQStudyDesk.

Please also note that whilst every effort will be made to ensure that your program is successfully recorded, Replication Services cannot be responsible for any equipment malfunction, power outages, late alterations to station broadcast schedules or program time overruns.
