The Centre's research themes focus on the transitions to sustainability.  Our commitment to transdisciplinary research requires a preparedness to take chances and be innovative.  Research themes are also dynamic, their scope and relative importance change as knowledge accumulates through lessons learnt.

The principal research themes of the Centre are:

  • drivers of land and resource use and implications for regional sustainability

  • integrated approaches for regional and catchment planning and management

  • ecological services and development of targets and indicators of catchment health

  • environmental psychology and community involvement in resource management

  • environment and natural resources policies and institutional arrangements

  • conservation ecology and biodiversity management.
