Neverending Journey through Acrylics and Charcoal
Tutor in Residence
Donald James Waters - Jacob's Well
Art must always remain an adventure; to Don it is spiritual, always beautiful and somewhat naïve. He assimilates this with the emotion of driving into a new land and looking down into a valley you have never seen before where the experience can be hallucinatory. Don has crossed many milestones and achieved many successes with sellout exhibitions throughout Australia. His international career has now gained momentum – having had one-man exhibitions in both England and New Zealand and expanded his presence throughout the United States. He has paintings included in Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's Art Collection and during the Queen's stay at CHOGM he was asked to design paintings to decorate the dignitary reception and accommodation areas.
Course Synopsis
If you are an artist who wishes to move out of your comfort zone and into the unknown, then this is the course for you. Don's aim is to develop your ideals and take you on a journey of discovery that never ends until you are satisfied.
We will be extending your subject matter through many different phases until we reach total abstraction. Whilst we look for individualism, there will be many in-depth discussions and experiences of painting live, and from the heart. We will be working and expressing your own emotions in all your works.
Throughout the workshop, techniques and use of materials will be under constant review, along with the excitement of colour and shape. Don's aim at all times is to work with the individual and develop their idealism – not his.
Estimated material cost: negligible – experienced students should have most materials, a materials list is provided as a guide.
