Cherryl is committed to passing on the traditions of the craft which compels her dedication, while being an inspiration to many. The desire to learn, has taken her to America and Japan. Her standard of work is unparalleled and as a consequence she is constantly sought after. Cherryl was presented with “The Al Stohlman Award” in 2008 and is the first Australian to win this award, it is also the first time the award has been won by a non American. The international “Al Stohlman Award" is a prestigious annual award which honors the accomplishments of individual leather artist’s worldwide. It is given to one who has demonstrated continued dedication to the industry following the example set by Al Stohlman, the World’s most talented, best known and respected leather artist.  

Course Synopsis

Learn how to make beautiful flowers and leaves from vegetable and chrome tanned leathers.

You will learn the techniques and skills of cutting, colouring, molding and much more. The workshop will progress in an easy-to-follow step by step manner. You will make a collection of flowers, buds and leaves as well as a variety of different centers for the flowers.

These beautiful life like leather flowers can be used as a brooch, corsage or to decorate a hat or fascinator, as fashion jewellery, bracelets and much more. You will also learn how to enhance your creations by decorating them with ribbons, cords, pearls, wire, beads and crystals. Leather flowers can also be used to decorate boxes, shoes, bags, picture frames and mirrors etc.

Materials

All tools and equipment will be supplied for students to use during the workshop. You only items you need to supply are an apron, notepad and pen, scissors and cutting mat if possible.
