Martin Crook, Toowoomba

In a professional career spanning more than four decades, Martin was Principal Clarinet of the Queensland Theatre Orchestra, and Associate Principal of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestras. He now lectures clarinet, saxophone and chamber music and directs the USQ Big Band at the University of Southern Queensland. Martin is a member of USQ’s resident group, Ensemble A250. Although classically trained Martin is fluent in many jazz styles, performing with jazz pianist Kerin Bailey at several Summer Schools. He has lectured at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff for the past several years.
