A self-taught artist, Maria is passionate about watercolour and her excitement and enthusiasm are contagious. She delights in creating colourful, clean watercolours with her work encompassing many subjects, usually inspired by light/shade, colour or shape. She has won over 53 awards, including 15 firsts in the past 9 years and her works are held in private and corporate collections throughout Australia and overseas. Maria has featured in articles in the Australian Artist magazine and she exhibits her work continuously. She loves teaching and has gained a reputation for being a patient, encouraging and helpful teacher 

Class Synopsis

A comprehensive workshop for anyone wanting to either try their hand at watercolour or improve their current watercolour skills. Maria’s stress-free and positive approach towards this exciting and beautiful medium will inspire you with the joys of watercolour in a non-threatening environment. Emphasis is placed on cause and effect of watercolour techniques, composition, controlling edges, pigment control, common problems (how to avoid them, how to fix them) design elements and principles, painting-planning and interpreting photos. A wide variety of subjects will be covered including florals, landscapes, skies, waterscapes, people, animals, streetscapes and even sumi-e and model work. Students will be guided to develop their knowledge, observation skills and confidence with step by step demonstrations, critiques and individual assistance. Expect lots of painting, information, techniques and especially lots of fun!

An estimated material cost of $0 - $200.00, however if you are an experienced student, should have most materials. A list of requirements will be sent on enrolment or you can request a copy for your perusal.
