Damien was born in the Northern Territory and moved to Queensland at the age of six. Since completing a Bachelor of Visual Arts in 2001, Damien has worked in arts in health programs for Queensland Health and taught painting and drawing at the Southern Queensland Institute of TAFE. Damien currently lectures in visual and expressive arts at the University of Southern Queensland. He is the founder and director of 'Play on Play' - a family owned business designed to celebrate and support children's creativity. Through 'Play on Play', Damien has spent a lot of time travelling both nationally and internationally promoting the importance of creativity in the lives of children, youth and community through lectures, children's workshops and art exhibitions. Damien was nominated as a finalist for the 2010 Sulman Prize. Damien exhibits his own work prolifically and is represented by Lasting Impressions Gallery.

Class Synopsis

This workshop will explore various aspects of creativity from the analytical to the serendipitous, fostering a personal intuitive response to creativity.

Participants will explore a variety of traditional and experimental drawing, painting and new media techniques from the journaling stage through to the final works.
