The Travelling Road and the Wandering Brush *
Tutor in Residence
Catherine Parker from Toowoomba
Catherine has a B.Ed in Visual Arts from the University of Melbourne. She exhibits widely, was a finalist in the Blake Prize in 2011 and most recently travelled to New Delhi, through RMIT in Melbourne, to further establish her creative and cultural links with India through art collaborations and art tours. Catherine has extensive teaching experience and is passionate at assisting her students to explore and take risks and enjoy the results of this challenge.
Using acrylic paint, pencil, collage, ink, glazes, glitter and transfer techniques, participants will create a series of works on canvas, paper, board as well as making a concertina artists’ book.
Largely explorative yet grounded in process, participants have plenty of opportunity to experiment, yet take home valuable skills such as the application of clear/acrylic glazes; colour mixing; paint application and composition.
This workshop is suitable for those who enjoy experimenting, taking risks, making happy ‘mistakes’ and who like to be challenged! Catherine is a passionate about assisting participants to take their ideas to the next level, thereby encouraging independent application at the completion of the workshop.
