For over four decades, the University of Southern Queensland’s McGregor Schools have been providing quality cultural experiences.
Established in 1969, the McGregor Summer School has become one of the largest cultural activities of its kind held in Australia, offering an outstanding range of performing, visual and creative arts classes.
Held annually over two weeks each January at the University’s Toowoomba campus, Summer School has an international reputation for its renowned tutors, stimulating and creative environment and social activities.
Over 50 classes ranging from painting to singing, literature to music, and languages to jewellery-making, are offered at the ten-day retreat, attracting tutors and participants from around the globe.
In July of each year, the five-day McGregor Winter School, also at the USQ Toowoomba campus, offers a variety of visual and creative arts classes including painting, drawing, printmaking and jewellery.
No matter the season, with its wide tree-lined streets, colonial architecture and many beautiful gardens and parks, the ‘Garden City’ of Toowoomba provides the perfect inspiration for creativity for the Summer and Winter Schools.
Hervey Bay, the whale watching hub of the beautiful Fraser Coast provides the balmy backdrop for McGregor on the Bay which plays host to a four-day weekend of visual arts workshops each September.
And Stanthorpe, in the heart of the Granite Belt, offers the perfect backdrop for weekend getaways of culture, food and wine throughout the year as part of the McGregor in the Vines series.
Whether you are young or young at heart, a beginner or professional, there is something for everyone, year round, to explore your creativity at the University of Southern Queensland’s McGregor Schools.
