Acrylics - Thinking Abstract
Tutor in Residence
Steven Dix, Toowoomba
Steven Dix is an Australian abstract artist with experience in exhibitions spanning throughout Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, USA, Japan and Australia. Both highly regarded in fine art and one of Australia’s leading commercial artists, Steven Dix art is seen daily by millions of people every day without them even knowing it. Working mostly with acrylics on canvas, the DIX style captures the essence of Australian colours and nature. Korea’s number #1 art collector sums the DIX style in two words – “vulnerability overflows”.
Steven says “The objective of my art is to remove the walls and perceived boundaries around us, which of course, are often there to serve a purpose with the elements of life, through art. We don’t look at the 'what' anymore, we see the art and the messages held within.”
Class Synopsis
“Thinking Abstract” is a class to challenge your thinking more than your skills or techniques. An experience which helps you consider your own ways of expressing your message in painting. Finding your individual style and begin the journey of identifying who YOU are on your canvas.
The week will involve many fun examples but more importantly plenty of personal time with the tutor where we talk about you THE ARTIST. We will break down old thinking and old habits and look at art through a new set of eyes.
My goal is to take each student to a place they have yet to find, and together we spend time talking about your ideas and thinking, re-shaping and unlearning at times, and, at other times, showing you something new.
