Exploring Creativity with the Nude

Tutor in Residence

Pete Pinza, Pottsville

 pinza

Pete was formally trained in life drawing and oils at university in the USA during the 60’s, but he didn’t start painting professionally until 1991 as a street artist and during the next 12 years hundreds of his paintings went to homes all over the world.

In 2003 he turned specifically to figurative art, winning a first price at the Gold Coast Erotica show and has won several first prizes recently for his watercolours.  Pete has been a popular tutor from the Northern Rivers to the Sunshine Coast since 2004 and his latest work can be seen at www.flickr.com/photos/petepinza.

Course Synopsis

This course begins with the goal of sharpening the artists’ observation skills by creating the model’s image on paper with special attention to gesture, volume through light and shadow, proportion, foreshortening and likeness.

Next, style becomes important as well as individual interpretation. While the above tools become underpins, Pete demonstrates various ways of creating the nude with pastel, watercolour, acrylics and water based oils; and also how to use figures in everyday paintings (eg: street and café scenes).

Each artist will be encouraged to tackle as many mediums or combinations as possible with the goal of nurturing their own personal styles and strengths; or some may choose to stay with their favourite medium only. Whether you are intermediate, advanced or a newcomer to figurative art, Pete’s one on one tutoring will put you to work; so, be ready to learn and grow.
