Students' Materials List

Materials to be supplied by the student

Plastic A4 Display Book (20) pages for notes, exercises and reference colour charts

Drawing Materials: 
Pencils: 4H, 2H, F, HB, 2B
Eraser: white plastic (Faber Castell Dust Free or equivalent)
Pencil Sharpener: or #23 scalpel blade and small piece of medium sandpaper
Ruler

Paper: Sketch pad size A3 or equivalent
1 sheet Arches 300 gsm HOT PRESS watercolour paper  OR a pad of A4 300 gms watercolour paper

Paint: Although we will be working from the following list, bring along any other greens, blues and yellows that you wish to experiment with, please bring the following ARTIST QUALITY watercolours (5 ml tubes or ½ pans)

Greens: Winsor Green (blue shade) 
             Oxide of Chromium
             Permanent Sap Green 
             Terre Verde
Blues:   Manganese Blue Hue 
             Pthalo Turquoise
             Winsor Blue (Red Shade) 
             French Ultramarine
Yellows:Winsor Lemon 
             New Gamboge
             Quinacridone Gold 
             Raw Sienna

Watercolour brushes:  1 x #3 round sable and 1 x #1 round sable
Palette: White china or plain white Corelle plate
Water jars 2 jars with stable bases
Cloth Small lint free brush for removing excess water from brush
Glue stick UHU or equivalent
Plant with green foliage (if possible)
Optional but helpful:  Erasure shield, desk lamp, Blu-tac, dividers, magnifying glass, portable sloping table

IMPORTANT:  All electrical equipment required for your class at USQ must be ‘tag-tested' by a qualified electrician prior to arrival in order to comply with safety rules.  Items include: extension cords, hair dryers, and radio/CD players etc.
 
Estimated Material Cost:   $20 for paper.  Drawing materials can be ordered as a group through Murray's Art Supplies, sharing costs.  $10 for materials from the tutor

HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCES AND MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEETS.

If you bring any hazardous substance to the McGregor School, could you please ensure that you obtain a MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) from the supplier or obtain one from the manufacturer of this substance.
To do this, either ask the supplier from whom you purchase the hazardous substance, or read the contact details on the hazardous substance and contact the manufacturer and ask for a MSDS. Once you have obtained the MSDS, bring it with you to the school, and hand in a copy to the McGregor School office and /or the Tutor.
Hazardous substances can be: e.g. solvents, acids, some paint and glues, chemicals, fixatives, fluxes and solders.
If you are unsure, the Supplier and/or manufacturer should be able to inform you if the substance is classed as hazardous.
