Students' Materials List

Materials to be supplied by the student

Paper: 4 sheets watercolour paper 300 – 350 gsm, not too smooth or too rough*
Sketch pad:  Approx A3 size
Pencils:  B2, B4, B6 – one of each plus one nylon eraser
Pens:  Nylon tip waterproof in sizes 0.2, 0.3 – one of each
Brushes:  Round nylon, one each of #6, #12, and liner.  50 mm Hake (optional)
Paints:  Any reasonable student quality, ie. Cotman, Winsor & Newton or Art Spectrum

Colours:
 Blues:  Ultramarine, Cobalt, Cerulean
 Yellows:  Lemon, Cadmium Mid, Ochre
 Reds:  Cadmium Light, Alizarin Crimson
 Earth:  Burnt Sienna, Warm Sepia, Paynes Grey

Palette: Paint holder with area for mixing colours
Cloth:  Old hand towel etc. for drying brushes and mopping up any splashed water
Board:  Approx. 600 x 400 (base for painting on)


Paper clips or Blu-tac to hold paper if necessary
Coffee mug (The School does not supply tea, coffee, etc, these can be purchased on campus)

*  Ron can supply sheets of watercolour paper if necessary

Estimated material cost: up to $100 depending on what is already owned.

IMPORTANT:  All electrical equipment required for your class at USQ must be ‘tag-tested' by a qualified electrician prior to arrival in order to comply with safety rules. Eg: extension cords, hair dryers, and radio/CD players etc.

HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCES AND MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEETS.
If you bring any hazardous substance to the McGregor School, could you please ensure that you obtain a MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) from the supplier or obtain one from the manufacturer of this substance.
To do this, either ask the supplier from whom you purchase the hazardous substance, or read the contact details on the hazardous substance and contact the manufacturer and ask for a MSDS). Once you have obtained the MSDS, bring it with you to the school, and hand in a copy to the McGregor School office and or the Tutor.
Hazardous substance can be: e.g. solvents, acids, some paint and glues, chemicals, fixatives, fluxes and solders.
If you are unsure, the Supplier and or manufacturer should be able to inform you if the substance is classed  as hazardous.
