Harmony Day 2012
Harmony Day is an initiative of the Commonwealth Government and the theme for Harmony Day in 2012 is Sport - play, engage, inspire recognises the important role and positive influence that sport has in our multicultural nation. Involvement in sport whether as a participant, volunteer, spectator or administrator unites people of all ages and fosters a sense of belonging, acceptance and an understanding of other cultures.
At USQ, we once again celebrated Harmony Day on Wednesday, 21 March 2012 from 12.00 noon to 2.00pm at USQ Toowoomba campus quadrangle
The main objectives of Harmony Day are to promote:
-
inclusiveness - to ensure that Australians understand that multiculturalism is relevant to all Australians
-
productivity diversity - to ensure that Australians act to maximise the social, economic and cultural dividends of our diversity and to promote the benefits
-
community harmony - to ensure that Australians acknowledge Australia's success as a harmonious and culturally diverse nation and work to bolster community harmony.
