Multicultural Staff Network
Established in 1995, the USQ Multicultural Staff Network is a group of University staff from different cultural backgrounds and countries including Poland, South Africa, Korea, United Kingdom, Laos, Bangladesh, Iran, and Fiji.
We use the intercultural and linguistic skills of staff to the benefit of the University and the wider community, and create support groups for staff and students from other countries.
What we support
We support the University's Multiculturalism Policy and other equity policies and contribute to the internationalisation of USQ.
Our achievements
We recently celebrated ten years at USQ and during this time we developed the Multicultural Policy, the first of its kind in any Australian university, and played a key role in the University being awarded the:
We also established the register of languages and contribute annually to the USQ Anti-Racism and Multiculturalism Program.
Our objectives

To enhance the cultural diversity at USQ through promotion of understanding; respect for different cultures; internationalisation; and active involvement of members in research and other academic activities.

To actively assist in and monitor the implementation of equal opportunity and anti-discrimination laws, regulations and policies.

To ensure that staff members of non-English speaking background are represented in decision making processes, including selection, promotion and staff development.

To utilise the expertise, language, background and other skills of its membership for the benefit of USQ and the wider community.

To liaise with the international students' organisations and provide support for the international students and students of non-English speaking background.

To assist with organising international programs such as conferences, seminars, lectures and other activities.
