EO Achievement Award 2010
This year (2010) the Multicultural Centre was a co-recipient of the University’s Equal Opportunity for Women Achievement Award. The Award was shared with Ms Gay Mason, a Project Officer at the Centre, for developing and implementing the Mentoring and Language Initiative for Mature-Age Women Students in the Toowoomba region. The Project focuses on women from migrant and refugee communities, assisting them to gain entry into the tertiary preparation courses offered at USQ by the Open Access College. The Award is made annually to individuals or groups who have contributed to the ‘development of a University culture which values the achievements of women’, and whose initiatives have ‘fostered the career enhancement or education of women at the University’.
The presentation was made by the Vice-Chancellor and Chancellor at the Annual VC’s Staff Award Ceremony on 1st December 2010.
