Research Process
The project will conduct broad consultation with key stakeholders, particularly including career development practitioners, academics, and employers.
In 2007, the project team undertook initial consultations with the career development practitioners of Australian universities. This first phase of the consultation process included university staff completing a brief survey pertaining to their understanding and definitions of work-integrated learning. This survey was followed by two intensive discussion groups held at the NAGCAS Annual Conference. The groups used nominal group technique and idea-writing to stimulate the generation of ideas and talk around the notions of career development learning, work-integrated learning, their relation to one another, and their implementation in higher education curriculum. The results of this first round of consultation has informed the basis of the remaining consultations, which will likewise be used to inform a Discussion Paper that will be presented to delegates at the National Symposium in June 2008.
