USQ recognised by CPA Australia

CPA Australia's David Lee and USQ's Barry Mottram.

USQ has achieved Recognised Employer Partner status with CPA Australia, one of the world’s largest accounting bodies.

CPA Australia has formally recognised USQ’s demonstrations of a strong ongoing commitment to learning and development and support of the professional development of accounting and finance staff by identifying, providing and monitoring and re-assessing staff developmental needs.

USQ is now one of 36 recognised CPA Australia partners nation-wide and one of only two universities to achieve knowledge partnership status.

Representatives from USQ will met with representatives from CPA Australia during the Recognised Employer Partner certificate presentation at the university campus held Tuesday morning at the Steele Rudd College Dining Hall.

USQ’s Chief Finance Officer Barry Mottram, Director of Financial Reporting and Budgets Doug Tyler, Member of Queensland Divisional Council Professor Peter Best and Queensland General Manager of CPA Australia David Lee were in attendance.

Doug Tyler said the Recognised Employer Partner status was a great credit to the university and would make USQ more attractive to prospective employees.

‘It’s a clear recognition of the professional developments and career paths being provided at USQ,’ Mr Tyler said.

‘In our application to CPA Australia, we had to prove we had the support and structural developments in place for accountancy staff.

‘This means our employees are no longer obligated to report to CPA Australia every three years and moves the onus of support and development to USQ.’
