USQ gets in the Christmas Spirit

21 December 2011
More than 50 USQ staff volunterred at the Christmas Wonderland.

More than 50 staff members from across the University offered their time and assisted the Toowoomba Lions Club run its annual Christmas Wonderland lights display in Queens Park.

USQ hosted two nights during the first week of the display, and despite the rain and cold weather staff rugged up and gave up a night to help paint children’s faces, handout free ice-creams and sell glow products.

The Office of Corporate Communication and Public Relations coordinated USQ’s volunteers and has received exceptionally positive feedback from the staff who volunteered.

Staff comments:

“I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would love to do it again. I was one of the fortunate staff members who were “working” (actually playing) in the glow merchandise tent.”

One volunteer thanked the team saying “I am sure you had to put a fair amount of work into organising all of this. I know I personally enjoyed being a volunteer - and felt privileged to be given the opportunity to assist the community in some small way.”

Thank you to everyone who offered their time! The lights display is located in Queens Park’s Botanical Gardens and opens nightly from 7.00pm- 10.00pm until Christmas Eve.
