In just three years, the USQ student produced program Good Business airing on QCTV-31, has gone from strength to strength and is now a candidate for a TV Week Logie award nomination in the category of ‘Most Popular Factual Program’.

The program, produced and directed on the Springfield campus by Bachelor of Applied Media students aims to showcase small to medium sized enterprises and unpack some of the jargon of business.

BAM Lecturer Mr Ashley Jones said a variety of guests are interviewed on the show.

'We interview high profile business people, senior management executives and successful small business owners from all over South East Queensland, including Sir Llew Edwards,' Mr Jones said.

'We have had segments on women in business, looked at the business of the arts, television, sport, the impact of technology, mining and covered new developments.

'Good Business is an exceptional opportunity for students to engage with a half hour program and get to be so hands on, meaning they are becoming industry ready by graduation.

'To be in contention for a 2012 TV Week Logie Award nomination is a real honour and a tribute to the support of the students who get so involved with the production process.

'We work closely with television Director & USQ lecturer Kieran O’Sullivan to bring together a strong learning experience for the BAM students.”

Mr Jones said the students are working on High Definition broadcast equipment and have to work to meet industry expectations.

'They are trained to work efficiently and creatively.

'We have had a number of students go on to gain employment in television at Channel Seven and Channel Nine in Brisbane and a number of regional stations around Queensland.'

Good Business will have season four commencing in the second half of this year.
