Germany and its impact on Queensland — past and future

Detlef Sulzer speaks at USQ’s Harmony Day celebrations.

The University of Southern Queensland Multicultural Centre will host a research seminar on the history of Queensland’s German connections.

The Honourable Consol of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mr Detlef Sulzer will address a number of topics from his upcoming book, 170 Years of Queensland German Connections.

Mr Sulzer is an honorary committee member of the Society for Australian German Student Exchange, amongst other affiliations.

Topics to be addressed include; land and sea passage, first settlements, German legacy, cultural contributions, involvement in the economic and energetic growth of Queensland.

Mr Sulzer was Adjunct Professor and member of the Faculty Advisory Committee, School of Civil Engineering, Queensland University of Technology from 2002 until 2005.

The seminar will take place on June 26, USQ Toowoomba campus, room S515 at 12.15pm.
