University of Southern Queensland’s cutting-edge research will be on show to an expected crowd of 70,000 people this week at Toowoomba’s renowned CRT FarmFest event.
Faculty of Sciences Academic Liaison Officer Kay Lembo said USQ’s presence would add to the event’s reputation as being a stage for the best and brightest ideas and technology in the agriculture industry.
USQ researchers will cover topics like crop biotechnology, wine science, human physiology, food as medicine, women’s health, antibiotics and mathematics.
Mrs Lembo said it was important to USQ to provide an informative community service while engaging with the rural sector.
‘With 2012 being the Year of the Farmer we thought it was a fitting opportunity to showcase some of the University’s cutting-edge research,’ Mrs Lembo said.
‘FarmFest has been running on USQ’s doorstep for some 35 years — it’s great that the University is part of its stellar program for 2012.’
CRT FarmFest 2012 will be staged at Kingsthorpe Park on the Warrego Highway, 20km west of Toowoomba, over three big days — Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (June 5, 6, 7).
More than 2500 individual companies and organisations will be exhibiting at this year’s event.
