USQ is joining R U OK? Day with activities across our three campuses on Thursday 13th September 2012.
R U OK? Day is to highlight awareness of mental health and to facilitate wellbeing.
As part of R U OK? Day, make sure you ask each other ‘Are you ok?’ as a way of connecting with and supporting each other.
Ongoing connections and care helps friends or colleagues to deal with problems before they become too big.
Join the Student Services team at
USQ Toowoomba at a stall in the Hub from 8.30am where you can pick up a free R U OK? coffee cup, wristband, and mini-muffin. Come and connect with your friends and colleagues and make sure they R OK.
At
USQ Springfield the USQ GIVE Club and Student Services will be under the shade sails on campus between 12:00 and 1:00pm. For a $4 donation you will receive a smiley face cupcake and coffee/voucher. All proceeds will be donated to the
R U OK? cause.
R U OK? wrist bands will be available at the Hub at
USQ Fraser Coast.
R U OK? Day is a national day highlighting the importance of:
- talking to each other,
- being part of a community
- facilitating wellbeing, and
- suicide prevention.
On the 13th of September ask someone “How are you going?” and listen to what they have to say. If they are not going well, encourage them to seek help and make a note to follow up with them the following week.
If you are not feeling ok there are many places you can access support from. Students can access support through Student Services while staff are able to access support through
EAP .
You can also access support through Lifeline on 13 11 14 or the Suicide Call Back Service on 1300 794 991. Further places that can offer support can be found on the
R U OK? website
