USQ will celebrate the Springfield Graduation Ceremony to be held at the Ipswich Civic Centre on Saturday, 13 April.
More than 100 students including undergraduate and postgraduate graduands will don ceremonial regalia to celebrate their conferring of degrees at 2.30pm following a graduation march through the Ipswich City Mall at 2pm.
USQ Springfield campus Director Doug Fraser said there was always a great feel to the Springfield Graduation Ceremony.
‘There are hundreds of proud parents, partners and children witnessing the celebration of their loved ones achievement.
‘They watch as students take part in a Graduation March from the bottom of the Ipswich City Mall to the Civic Centre with a Town Crier and a bagpiper leading the procession.
‘It is a wonderful way to celebrate the hard work and sacrifice they have made while studying.’
Mr Fraser said this year graduands and their families would hear from inspirational guest speaker, 2010 Queensland Australian of the Year and 2009 INDEX People’s Choice Award recipient, Jean Madden.
Ms Madden is a Queensland mother of two, a school teacher and the founder of Street Swags Ltd, an organisation that has empowered and brought together all levels of the community.
‘In 2005, she set out to provide homeless people with ‘street swags’ in order to reduce the negative effects of sleeping outdoors with adequate protection from the elements.
‘Since then, more than 14,000 street swags have been distributed to the homeless in Australia.’
Mr Fraser congratulated graduands on the completion of their programs and the impending conferring of their degrees.
'We wish all our graduates great success in their future endeavours,' he said.
