How do I stand out from other candidates to be successful when applying for a job?
This is one of many questions that will be answered at the USQ 2013 Career Opportunities Showcase to be held at Springfield campus on Wednesday 17 April from 11.30am to 1.15pm.
More than 20 potential employers ranging from government, private business and not-for-profit organisations will take time to speak to USQ students about the employability skills they will need when graduating.
USQ Springfield Director Mr Doug Fraser said each year the event grows larger as more employers sign up for the opportunity to meet with students who may become employees following graduation.
'The Career Opportunities Showcase is an excellent opportunity for students to network with industry leaders and build productive relationships with relevant professionals,' Mr Fraser said.
'It also allows students to increase their knowledge about potential career opportunities through graduate pathways.
'Sometimes the most obvious career path isn’t the only one a student can take and talking with employers can uncover some interesting options.
'This is a prime opportunity for students to find out from employers exactly what they are looking for in graduate employees and what preparations they need to make to get their foot in the door to gain an interview opportunity and then how to handle the interview.'
Students are encouraged to attend the 2013 Career Opportunities Showcase.
