USQ graduation showcases high achievements

USQ students celebrated the successful completion of their studies in the weekend's graduation ceremony
Over 500 of the University of Southern Queensland’s (USQ) best and brightest were honoured at the first of Toowoomba’s autumn graduation ceremonies held on 20 April.

Approximately 2000 guests witnessed graduands from the Faculty of Business and Law, the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Engineering and Surveying being congratulated by USQ Chancellor Mrs Bobbie Brazil.

During the ceremony, academic Dr David Woodhouse was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of the University.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Jan Thomas said universities award honorary doctorates in recognition of an individual's outstanding personal achievements.

“They are a rare honour conferred only after great deliberation,” Professor Thomas said.

“Dr Woodhouse was given the honorary doctorate in recognition of distinguished service in the field of quality assurance in the global higher education environment.

“All our graduates should be proud of their achievements – USQ is certainly very proud of them.”

The Faculty of Sciences and Faculty of Education students will receive their testamurs Saturday 27 April 2013.
