Theatre, Vanuatu and local music are the themes of this week’s Connected program airing at 4.30pm on Saturday on 31 Digital.

The variety program aimed at connecting South East Queensland is produced by USQ Bachelor of Applied Media (BAM) as part of their third year assessment.

Connected Presenter and BAM Lecturer Ashley Jones said guests this week included Small Crown Productions Paul Adams, travel and tourism guru Frances Cassidy and performances by The Skinnie Finches and acoustic guitarist Tim O’Brien.

‘Paul Adams will be talking about the Anywhere Theatre Festival which is running from 8-19th May,’ Mr Jones said.

‘The festival is a unique and large assortment of shows undertaken by artists and creative minds from all walks of life. Paul will tell us why the festival is a great initiative that people should get out and support.’

Connected regular Frances Cassidy will be jetting us off to the tropical island of Vanuatu, where we’ll be exploring some of the sights, attractions and things to do.

‘Local music lovers are in for a treat with Indie rock band The Skinnie Finches and Tim O’Brien both performing. Tim O’Brien is a fingerstyle acoustic guitarist and will also showcase his unique song playing and song re-styling skills.

Student producer Thomas Sherson said the episode would be a good mixture of informative, interesting and entertaining content.

‘The production aspects of the show itself were challenging and confusing at first, particularly as it was the first episode recorded,’ Mr Sherson said.

There were a couple of hiccups, but overall we are really happy with the final product we achieved. It was all a lesson on how to pull it together when things don’t go as planned.’

Connected airs on 31 Digital on Mondays at 7.30pm and repeats on Saturdays at 4.30pm.
