USQ graduate joins cast of Neighbours
If you thought Robert and Cameron Robinson looked familiar you were right. USQ graduate, Adam Hunter, has landed the career opportunity of a lifetime, joining the cast of Australia's longest running television drama.
Neighbours has become a star barometer, launching rising actors' careers and often foreshadowing their future success, but the humble theatre graduate is taking stardom in his stride.
Following a screen test and audition, Adam was accepted into USQ's acting course in 2000. After graduating he moved to Melbourne, where he began working with the Red Stitch Actors Theatre.
‘Within two weeks of arriving in Melbourne three years ago I got a casting with Jan Russ but nothing came of it.
‘Neighbours then saw me about four or five times before I landed the role I am currently playing - Persistence pays off!"
The iconic Australian soapy has also helped launch a number of actors' careers, helping them break into the international industry.
‘There have been huge prospects for Australian actors overseas lately and Neighbours is a stepping stone to that.
‘I had never actually planned to be on Neighbours, in fact I thought I would be doing commercials and fringe theatre for the rest of my life, but life changes dramatically once you receive a job like this'.
Recent photographs of Adam on the set of Neighbours are available. For further information and interviews please contact the University.
