Presentation deals with the issues of the Apartheid
Not many people can say they were involved in exposing the White Apartheid Government's plot to prevent Black majority rule in South Africa, but the first speaker in a new series run by USQ Springfield can.
Brian Morrow, who will present at USQ Springfield's first Building the Links public presentation on Tuesday 31 October, will tell his story from 4pm-6pm in the USQ Springfield Auditorium.
Series Coordinator and USQ Education Lecturer, Heather Sharp, said the Education Faculty started the initiative to provide community members with the opportunity to hear some amazing stories.
'In his presentation, Understanding South Africa, Mr Morrow will share his experiences of the unique role he played as a White South African helping to bring democratic rule to the country,' Heather said.
'During the session Mr Morrow will explore the ethical dilemmas he faced in his time in the South African Police, his role in the scandal which exposed to the world the plot by the White Apartheid Government to prevent Black majority rule and his subsequent life as a political exile.
'I've heard Mr Morrow speak in the past and it's really fascinating to hear what he has to say. The pictures he shows are really engaging, and not just to adults, to young people as well.
'We started the Building the Links series so community members can attend these presentations free of charge and learn about different issues.
'I encourage all community members, school students, teachers, parents, everyone to take advantage of this free presentation.'
Mr Morrow has spoken extensively at schools and universities in the UK and Australia and has been extremely well received.
He is currently working as a teacher at the Brisbane Grammar School.
USQ Springfield plans to continue to run Building the Links presentations for the public, with the next one planned for early next year.
