Science Circus commences

Nearly 3,000 school students will explore the world of Science at USQ's Science Circus, this week (13-16 August).

USQ Events Officer, Donna Millett, said last year's inaugural Circus was such a success that this year's event booked out in a few hours.

'Schools enjoyed the event so much last year, that we now have a waiting list a mile long,' Donna said.

'The event is so popular, that as a result the University has opened up a night time session to the public on Tuesday night.'

Science Circus activities include demonstrations, workshops and hands-on activities that are designed for 7 to 12 year olds.

'The Science Circus gives students the opportunity to find out that science is fun and see how it applies to them,' Donna said.

Students from nearly 40 schools from across the Darling Downs region will attend over the three days.

The night time session will be held on Tuesday 15 August from 6.30pm to 8pm.  Entry is free and bookings are essential. Bookings can be made through Donna Millett on 07 4631 1643.

The Science Circus is part of USQ's National Science Week Celebrations and is supported by the Queensland Museum.
