Christian Outreach College win Super Challenge

 

Christian Outreach College Toowoomba have been victorious on the second and final day of the Science and Engineering Super Challenge at the University of Southern Queensland (USQ) Toowoomba campus.

Christian Outreach College Toowoomba beat seven schools to secure the Cup and a spot at the National Challenge, to be held in Tamworth during October.

Meanwhile St Mary's College, also from Toowoomba, managed second place and will also travel to Tamworth for the National Challenge.

Emmanuel College from the Gold Coast finished third and also won the engineering game, while St Mary's College Maryborough, Brisbane State High School, Northside Christian College and Brigidine College also won individual events.

More than 250 students from across Queensland competed on the second day of the state finals.

USQ Faculty of Sciences Manager, Harry Spencer, congratulated all schools on their efforts throughout the day and made special mention of Christian Outreach College Toowoomba.

'Christian Outreach College proved themselves and all the hard work that they have done over the past few months paid off for them.

'All of the activities were based on Science and Engineering principals and I am sure that all of the competitors learnt a lot from today.'

Mr Spencer also passed on his congratulations to all of the schools who participated over the two days and all of the people behind the scenes.

'This was a big event so thanks must go to all the people who helped out and made sure everything ran smoothly.

'To all of the schools as well we thank them for their participation.

'There were definitely some scientists and engineers of the future among these students.'

Rivermount College also competed for the Cup today.

The Science and Engineering Super Challenge, was sponsored by Rotary Club of Toowoomba East, and attracted more than 500 students and 16 schools to USQ over the course of the two days.
