International student wins local photography competition
An International student at USQ Springfield has won the Ipswich City Council's Enviroplan Photographic Competition.
Andreas Eder was the Adult Winner of the Design: Contemporary People Places category with his image titled My New World.
Now in its forth year, the competition is designed to promote important environmental issues, while highlighting the unique natural and built environments of Ipswich. The annual competition is also an opportunity to showcase talented photographers.
The winning entry (pictured) portrays USQ Springfield Education student, Clementine Gold, performing a handstand in front of the USQ Springfield building.
Andreas said being a winner was a great motivation to advance his hobby further.
'It is the first photo competition I have ever taken part in and it was a welcome surprise to win,' Andreas said.
Andreas received a certificate and a letter from the Mayor of Ipswich congratulating him on his success.
He said the best part of the whole experience for him was the recognition he received for his first attempt at showcasing his works in a competition.
Andreas came to USQ Springfield from Germany, where he was studying via distance mode through USQ.
He is currently studying Tourism and intends to stay in Springfield until he finishes his program.
Andreas' photo will be featured, along with the other winning images, in a promotional calendar produced by the Ipswich City Council.
