More than a hundred scholarships on offer at USQ
More than a quarter of a million dollars will be offered in scholarships to commencing students at the University of Southern Queensland (USQ) in 2007.
The University is giving away nearly 165 scholarships, with a further $100,000 in USQ Equity and Commonwealth Learning Scholarships also available to students.
USQ Dean of Students, Professor Rod St Hill, said applications for the scholarships are now open.
"There is a whole range of scholarships available," Professor St Hill said.
"Some of the scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic merit, some are designed to increase access for students and others acknowledge the contribution a student has made to their local community.
"The scholarships are all designed to provide assistance to new students making the transition into University.
"Students experiencing financial hardship and those from rural and regional areas are particularly encouraged to apply.
"However I encourage all students to take advantage of every opportunity to gain a scholarship," he said.
Scholarships are offered to students commencing study in all fields of education, across the Toowoomba, Springfield and Wide Bay campuses, as well as those studying externally.
Scholarships will be granted to Year 12 school leavers as well as mature age students. Specific scholarships for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students are also available.
Additional scholarships will be offered to students commencing postgraduate studies through USQ's Australian Graduate School of Business.
"USQ gratefully acknowledges the support of our scholarship donors, without whom we could not provide so many opportunities," Professor St Hill said.
