USQ to Honour Award & Scholarship Recipients
USQ Wide Bay will recognise some of its highest achievers tomorrow (Tuesday 28th February), when the University announces its Award and Scholarship winners for 2006.
At the event, 36 Awards and Scholarships will be presented to commencing and current students, who received outstanding results in 2005. Some Scholarships will also be awarded to new students who have chosen to study in a particular field such as tourism.
USQ Wide Bay Provost, Professor Ken Stott, said approximately one hundred community leaders, staff, students and recipient's family members will attend the event.
"Our annual Award and Scholarship presentations are a prestigious event that recognise the pursuit of academic excellence,
"The Awards also reflect the University's strong links with the community and I would like to thank all our community sponsors in 2006," Professor Stott said.
Various community leaders will attend the awards ceremony including Hervey Bay City Council Mayor, Ted Sorensen, who will present the HBCC Scholarship, valued at $2500.
Other Awards include: Audrey Redmond Memorial Prize, Avance Chartered Accountants Award, Bonnie Boreham Memorial Award, War Widows Bursary, CPA Award, EDI Rail scholarship, HB Chamber of Commerce Award, MGT1000 Award, HBCC Tourism Scholarship, Olga Miller Bursaries, Shirley Foley Memorial Scholarship, Ulton Group Awards and the War Widows Guild of Australia Hervey Bay Sub Branch Award.
