Youth Group to play at USQ Toowoomba Campus Open Day
Prospective and current University of Southern Queensland (USQ) students will get the chance to ‘rock out' with one of Australia's hottest young bands when Youth Group hit the stage at the Toowoomba campus Open Day, on Sunday August 20.
Following on from a highly successful but hectic overseas touring schedule, including the prestigious Coachella Festival, Youth Group will visit USQ as part of a huge national tour that runs throughout August.
The band burst onto the scene earlier this year with their number one platinum single Forever Young, that led to a touring spot with English supergroup Coldplay and a slot at the sold-out Splendour In The Grass Festival.
Their album, Casino Twilight Dogs that was produced by Wayne Connolly (You Am I, The Vines, Dallas Crane) was released on July 15 and has already received widespread acclaim.
The band's second single Catching and Killing has also been received well and is currently getting high rotation on Australia's popular youth radio network Triple J.
Youth Group's recent success has seen them propelled to the forefront of Australian music, with prospective and current USQ students given a unique chance to see the band up close and personal.
USQ Events Manager, Ken Gideon, said Youth Group is just one of the many acts scheduled to make an appearance as part of Open Day festivities.
'Having one of Australia's most popular bands playing here at the Toowoomba Open Day is fantastic for the University, and will make for a great spectacle.
'For those looking for something a little different however we will also have the Ergon Energy USQ Big Band perform, so there is something for everyone.'
As well as entertaining the thousands who will pass through the University doors, visitors will also be given an insight into what is on offer at USQ and a look at University life.
'There will be displays and information sessions held throughout the day, that will allow those attending to get a feel for University life and the opportunities available to them,' Mr Gideon said.
The USQ Main Stage will open at 10am, with Youth Group capping off what will be a memorable day of entertainment.
Entry to the event is free.
