Angry penguins play in children's theatre

USQ Performance Centre presents 'Zac the Hero' for Children's Theatre Week.
The annual Children's Theatre Week is set to delight young audiences again, when the USQ Performance Centre presents Zac the Hero, a tale of heroism and adventure.

Written and directed by USQ Head of Theatre, Scott Alderdice, and featuring a cast of forty-five, Zac the Hero will have the whole family laughing and cheering throughout this mighty adventure.

Students from the University's Department of Theatre will play over sixty characters plus a flying pig, puppets, a documentary team, pageantry and perform song and dance extravaganza.

Since its inception in the early 1970's, more than 70 000 children have attended USQ's Children Theatre Week. The annual event provides children with a live theatre experience that is specifically tailored for a young audience.

This year's production features Pugnacious Potty Pants, and his battalion of angry penguins, who have scared all the fairies underground. In search of a hero, the fairies have come to the human world were they find Zac.

In a bid to save the land of the make-believe Zac launches himself on an adventure of daring mystery and absolute silliness, conquering his fears along the way.

Children's Theatre Week commences on Monday 15 May and runs until Sunday 21 May. Tickets are available via Michelle Fox at the USQ Box Office on 4631 1111.

Writer and Director Scott Alderdice is available for interviews upon request.
