Thousands to experience all that USQ has to offer at Open Day
An air of excitement is surrounding the USQ Toowoomba campus in anticipation of the annual Open Day, which will be held next Sunday (19 August 2007).
Around 6000 people are expected to pass through the campus, including roughly 2000 prospective students who will be given a taste of university life at USQ.
USQ Events Manager, Kathryn Silcox, said that there was a busy program planned for prospective students to help them decide upon a possible career.
'For those who are interested in studying at USQ there will be program and career information in the refectory to help prospective students make an informed choice,' she said.
'As well as that each Faculty will have their own displays and events on throughout the day.
'The Open Day is the perfect opportunity to see what the USQ Toowoomba campus provides for students.'
Although the Open Day is a chance for prospective students to explore their possible study options, there is also a number of other activities to keep the entire family happy entertained.
'Open Day is also the start of national science week and as such their will be a big science tent on the campus where people will be able to handle exhibits from the Queensland museum and also talk to scientists about their work,' Ms Silcox said.
'Also for the first time at the Toowoomba USQ Open Day we will have a busker's lane, where 16 talented performers, including a string quartet and country music singer will showcase their skills.
'There will also be a wine science tent in which people can witness first hand how wine is engineered.'
USQ's multiculturalism will also be on display, with international food stalls selling a variety of dishes from across the globe for those wanting to try something a little different.
The USQ Toowoomba campus Open Day will run from 10am to 3pm.
