USQ Scholarships for Bremer Institute of TAFE students

The University of Southern Queensland (USQ) Springfield campus will offer three new scholarships totalling $9000 to students from The Bremer Institute of TAFE in 2008, further cementing the strong relationship between the two institutions.

USQ Springfield Director Doug Fraser said the scholarships would be offered to Bremer TAFE students starting USQ undergraduate degree programs in 2008 either full-time or part-time.

'Each scholarship will have a value of $1,000 per year for the three years of the student's studies at USQ Springfield,' Mr Fraser said.

'To be eligible for the scholarship, students must also be citizens of Australia or have permanent resident status and obtain an entry rank of at least 82 or an OP 10.

'We are also asking students to submit a 250 word essay detailing their career aspirations and they must maintain a 4.5 grade point average while studying at USQ Springfield to continue receiving this scholarship.'

Mr Fraser said USQ Springfield was delighted to offer the scholarship to The Bremer Institute of TAFE students.

'Bremer TAFE was selected as the number one Australian Large Training Provider of the Year in 2006 and a number of their students have already progressed to studying with USQ.

'We share a campus with Bremer here at Springfield and we are proud of the developing academic partnership with the TAFE and its students.'

The Bremer Institute of TAFE Director Kaylene Harth said the scholarships program would provide further incentive for Bremer TAFE graduates to enhance their careers, whilst rewarding hard work and success.

'It's a pleasure to be able to offer students the option to apply for a scholarship at a local education facility that holds a world class reputation,' Kaylene said.

'The Bremer and the University of Southern Queensland have been working together for some time to develop pathways to University qualifications which may not have been immediately available to students upon leaving school.

'Many of our students already attend the University of Southern Queensland after graduating and it will be a pleasure to offer three more lucky students an extra incentive to further their studies,' Ms Harth said.

Bremer TAFE Scholarship applications close on January 18, 2008. For more information on scholarships visit USQ's Scholarship website at: www.usq.edu.au/scholarships.
