USQ's new Associate Dean looks to connect with community

Dr Lindsay Parry is looking forward to enhancing existing relationships with the Springfield community and building stronger communication links as part of his appointment to the University of Southern Queensland's (USQ) Springfield campus.

Dr Parry brings a wealth of experience in both secondary and primary education to his new role as the Associate Dean in Education (Springfield and International).

Coming to USQ from Griffith University Dr Parry previously worked as the Deputy Head of the School of Education and Professional Studies at Brisbane/Logan.

Dr Parry said he chose to join USQ because of the University's reputation particularly in distance education and the potential of the Springfield campus.

'The opportunities that will occur at the Springfield Campus and the growth potential were important factors in my decision,' Dr Parry said.

Although only in his second week, Dr Parry has already started making plans for Education at Springfield and internationalisation within the Faculty.

'I'm looking to build on the work that people have performed here for the past 12 months,' he said.

'I want to look at developing stronger relationships with schools and the community served by the Faculty in this area.'

Enhancing the Faculty's international identity and reputation are also key aims associated with Dr Parry's appointment.

'Essentially I am looking forward to strengthening links internationally to continue cementing USQ's position as a leader in distance education across the globe.'
