Chinese delegation visits USQ Springfield
A delegation from Ocean University of China (OUC) in Qingdao today met with the University of Southern Queensland's (USQ) Springfield Director Doug Fraser to discuss future ventures between the two institutions.
Mr Fraser said USQ welcomed the opportunity to form a partnership with OUC and enjoyed exchanging knowledge with the delegates.
'The delegates were representatives of the OUC School of International Education,' Mr Fraser said.
'They were particularly looking for new programs offered by USQ that may suit their students and offer them something different.
'We also discussed possible joint ventures and programs that would suit a wide variety of students.
'Ocean University is a comprehensive university with strengths in oceanography and fisheries science, but also offers many programs offered here at USQ including Engineering, Law and Education.
'Both Universities also have in common a strong international school and have three campuses.'
Mr Fraser said the delegation took the opportunity to tour the Springfield campus and provided a 30 minute presentation about their university to USQ staff.
'Ocean University has over 24,400 registered students, including 5,115 doctoral or master's degree students, over 11,691 undergraduates and 1,200 international students.
'They are a very successful education institution in China and there is much we can learn from them.'
