O Week underway at USQ
New and continuing USQ students have converged on the University this week for a range of activities as part of annual O Week celebrations.
From speed meeting to the traditional ‘stalls day' there is something for everyone, with both first year and current students enjoying a week of fun and entertainment.
One student looking forward to the week is Jenna Ginardi, a St Saviour's College graduate who is entering her first year on the Toowoomba campus.
'I am studying Business and decided on USQ because I live in the area and the course looked good compared to some other universities,' Jenna said.
'The thing I am excited about during O Week is meeting new people and the new friendships that I will make.'
Postgraduate student Philip Eastment is also eager to start the university year, with O Week the ideal time to get a feel for study.
'There is a high quality of programs at USQ, so I decided to study here and undertake a postgraduate certificate in management,' he said.
'It is a chance to forward my career and O Week is the first real taste of what study will be like.'
A number of activities are planned in the ‘quad' during the week, including a food festival and climbing wall, while the Clive Berghofer Recreation Centre will be a hive of activity.
'University can be a pretty daunting experience when you first arrive, but O Week is specifically designed to make this adjustment as easy as possible,' USQ Vice Chancellor, Professor Bill Lovegrove, said.
'In particular O Week is an ideal opportunity to explore the campus, meet staff and other students and join clubs and societies.
'Traditionally O Week is also a lot of fun and I hope students enjoy themselves responsibly.'
Media are welcome to attend O Week activities.
