Join the festivities at USQ Springfield Open Day
Visitors to the USQ Springfield Open Day can learn about new programs, hear about uni life and join the festivities on Sunday 26 August 2007.
Around 2000 people are expected to explore the campus with the Open Day running from 12 noon to 3pm.
Springfield Marketing Manager Amanda Daniel said the day is a great opportunity to hear about the latest in course offerings at Springfield.
'People can find out about the range of new programs this year including law, engineering and our increased range of postgraduate courses,' Ms Daniel said.
Program information will be available from the information booths as well as the faculty information sessions including science, engineering, arts, education and business which run throughout the afternoon.
'There will also be different displays from current students. Engineering students will be doing bridge building and applied media students will be doing a live broadcast,' Ms Daniel said.
'In 2008 we will have our own radio station powered by the applied media students. It will be on show on the day which will give people a good look at the facilities.
'Having current students displaying their work not only means visitors can see what students are doing in classes but they can speak to someone experiencing uni life as well.'
A session on life as a uni student begins at 1pm in the auditorium lecture theatre. Information on support services for students will be available all afternoon.
Campus tours run every half hour and include a visit to the accommodation facilities.
A basketball competition and colouring-in competition will keep the family entertained throughout the afternoon.
Alumnus of DDIAE, UCSQ and USQ are invited to attend a cocktail function at the conclusion of Open Day to celebrate the beginning of the Springfield alumni chapter.
'Some of our current students will also be contributing to the Education City Fiesta which is on the same day in the same area,' Ms Daniel said.
'So between USQ's Open Day, the Fiesta and the Orion Shopping Centre Sunday the 26th is looking to be a great day out in Springfield for the whole family.'
Although the USQ Open Day finishes at 3pm USQ Springfield will have an information booth at the Education City Fiesta.
