Essential information & contacts at Springfield S2 Orientation
New students commencing study in Semester Two at the University of Southern Queensland's (USQ) Springfield Campus should keep Friday 20 July 2007 free for Orientation Day.
Starting in the Harvard Room in Springfield, all of the essential information about studying at university will be provided throughout the day.
Nick Todd from the Learning and Teaching Support Unit (LTSU) at USQ said the program would be tailored towards easing new students into university and giving them the chance to meet new people.
'The majority of the Springfield cohort are the first members of their family to attend university. Orientation helps to demystify it all a little,' Mr Todd said.
'They get to meet their peers, their faculty and students from across the campus not in their faculty who they will bump into from time to time.'
The orientation program has been refined after feedback from students of previous Orientation Days, Mr Todd said.
'We've had a suite of orientations here at Springfield and each one has been evaluated by the students.
'The semester 2 2007 orientation is the one with the students' voice. It's what they've told us they want in an Orientation Day,' he said.
Faulty essentials, academic study skills and the Student Guild will all be introduced and explained through the day.
The various sessions will also provide new students with the opportunity to receive their student ID cards and learn about the online facilities available.
Springfield's semester 2 Orientation Day will commence with a welcome at 9:00am in the Harvard Room on level 6.
