USQ Female visual artists show work at exhibition
A Collage titled Flowers Number Two by renowned USQ Visual Arts Doctorate student, Deborah Beaumont, is just one of 16 art pieces that will be on display at the Women Passionate About Art exhibition during O Week.
Women Passionate About Art, will feature two pieces from eight female USQ Visual Art students and is being used profile some of the University's most talented artists.
'The pieces being displayed will be a variety of works by the female students doing their Visual Arts degree,' Curator of the exhibition Tina Cherry said.
'As well as collage there will also be pieces using sculpture and photography on display.
'All are welcome to view the imaginative and work driven by women passionate about Art and hopefully they can inspire those beginning their degree in Visual Arts at USQ.'
Organised by the USQ Women's Network, the exhibition is also a chance for the group to sign up new members.
'This is an initiative of the USQ Women's Network, which has been on campus for about a year now,' Ms Cherry said.
'There is a specific room dedicated to the Network and we will be using that space for the exhibition.
'While it is running we will be trying to attract women to the Network.'
Law lecturer and USQ Women's Network Vice-President Pauline Collins was excited about the event and encouraged female students to consider joining the group.
'The Women's Network gives support to female students both on-campus and externally whilst they are at USQ,' she said.
'It is a wonderful opportunity to have this exhibition and we really look forward to supplying students with such activities.'
Media are welcome to attend the official opening of the exhibition on Tuesday February 27 2007 at 12pm in the USQ Women's Network Room.
The exhibition will open between 12pm and 2pm from Thursday 1 March to Friday 2 March 2007.
