ARC success for USQ
USQ has been awarded four prestigious Australian Research Council (ARC) grants following the latest round of funding announced this week.
The ARC is a statutory authority within the Australian Government's Innovation, Industry, Science and Research (IISR) portfolio. Its mission is to deliver policy and programs that advance Australian research and innovation globally and benefit the community.
USQ was awarded two Discovery Project Grants, one Linkage Project Grant and for the first time ever a Discovery Indigenous Research Grant, which was one of only nine awarded nationally.
The Indigenous Research Grant will be used to address the differentials in health outcomes for Indigenous populations through a variety of programs addressing access to cancer care, while the other two Discovery Grants will explore effective and accurate model dynamics and privacy issues within database systems.
Meanwhile the Linkage Project will look into reducing the requirement for patients to travel to major centres for assessment and the advantages of treating patients in remote locations.
USQ will also be involved in two further projects, with researchers from the University taking part in schemes which are to be administrated by other universities.
Each grant was awarded under the ARC's National Competitive Grants Program (NCGP) as part of its commitment to nurturing the creative abilities and skills of Australia's most promising researchers.
